Since we started (back in 2002) we have helped thousands of
artists, bands and songwriters develop their musical careers. This page contains
recent Caragan news and information about some of our high-profile success stories.
Caragan Artist Lands Major Record Deal
(Sept 07):
The Caragan team personally played Garfield's demo to a variety of major labels in both
the UK and the States. As a result of this
exposure Garfield has now signed to RTEL Records in New York, a subsiduary
of Sony/Epic. RTEL was founded by Evan Lamberg (Executive Vice President of EMI
Publishing) and Rob Thomas (singer/songwriter of Matchbox Twenty, and now an
established solo artist). Garfield is
currently in New York in the final stages of recording; his first album
will be distributed world-wide by Sony/Epic.
(Caragan had previously played several of Garfield's tracks
to BMG and Universal Records. As a result,
Garfield was invited to do an acoustic showcase in front of BMG's head of A&R,
David Fields. We wish Garfield the very best of luck with his future musical
career.)
Caragan Submission leads to Deal with Dance Label
(Mar 07):
After receiving guidance from the Caragan team as a result of a demo
submission, Andy Duguid has secured a deal with Blackhole records - a dance
label based in the Netherlands. Andy wrote to thanks us by email:
"We have a signed a record contract with blackhole and my single is being released in April. Once again
if you can say thanks to your team for your advice on my tracks as it has
obviously helped.". We wish Andy all the best for the future.
Conima
(Dec 06):
After the Caragan team forwarded Conima's material to the UK-based majors,
the singer/songwriter was invited to give showcases in front of EMI, Polydor, Universal, Atlantic and
Warner Bros. The results have been overwhelmingly positive and a deal looks
imminent.

(January 06):
Caragan team member, Daren Walder, has been invited to act as an industry
expert on a new
music show produced by RDF Media (of Wife Swap, Holiday Showdown and Rock
School fame). Other judges on the show's panel include Ian Levine
(producer responsible for many of Take That's hits) and
Robin Burke (top Virgin Radio DJ). The show is due to be aired on Channel 4
and E4 in April 06. Make sure you check it out!
"7 o'clock" shortlisted for "Back in Business"
(October 2005):
British film production company New
Light Films contacted us requesting music for their upcoming film
"Back in Business" (directed by BAFTA- and Acadamey-nominated
director Chris Munro). We forwarded a number of tracks from Caragan artists
and "7 o'clock" by Vicky Dowdel has made the shortlist.
Caragan Team Feature on Big Brother
(August 2005):
Two of the Caragan Team featured on Channel 4's Big
Brother this week, critiquing a single recorded by housemate Lesley. The TV
show, featuring Caragan's Daren Walder and Alex Cooper, was aired on E4 and
Channel 4. We wish Lesley all the best with her future career.
Tom Vek (singer / songwriter)
(June 2005):
Tom Vek is currently supporting Moby in a series of gigs across the UK.
(Jan 2005):
Tom Vek is now signed to major label, Island Records.
(Oct 2004):
After Caragan forwarded Tom's material to various record labels,
his first album "We Have Sound" is now achieving wide spread
acclaim throughout the industry with several of the major labels offering
deals. The NME (9th October) described "We Have Sound"
as "the future of music", "an extraordinary album" which has put Tom in
"the eye of a record company storm".
Tom has recently played live to the nation on Radio 1's prestigious Evening Session.
Poser (band)
(Apr 2004): Poser, a young Blink 182-esque band, had a massive showcase
in front of Sony Music's head of A&R, Nick Raphael.
The Caragan team also played Poser's
material to Mercury, Warner, Universal and Polydor.
What a great opportunity! We wish the lads all the best.
Karen Carter (singer)
The Caragan team played Karen's material to Virgin, Warner, Sony, EMI,
Mercury,
BMG, Edel and Instant Karma. As a result of this exposure, Karen was asked
to
showcase for BMG and Edel, and was subsequently offered a development deal from Edel.
Prod (songwriter)
Prod's material was assessed by the Caragan team, and six tracks were
personally
forwarded to a major UK-based publishing company.
Janine Cangy (singer/songwriter)
The Caragan team played Janine's material to all the major UK-based labels
(including
Virgin, Sony, EMI, BMG) plus some of the larger independents (including
Instant
Karma, Edel and Nude). As a result Janine was invited to give a showcase
for Nude
Records. Another of Janine's songs (which A&R personnel
at BMG
tipped as a number one hit) was forwarded to the
Sweden-based producer who has worked with Kylie, Holly
Valance etc.
